Etiquette

If there will be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, there's no need to say so — but a line about a mocktail bar is welcome for guests who don't drink. If the evening is adults-only, say it gently and early so parents can plan. If you're hosting for a wedding, keep the cocktail and sangeet wording in the same voice so they feel like one celebration.

What does "cocktail attire" mean?

Dressy but not formal wedding wear: cocktail dresses, sarees with a modern drape, suits or bandhgalas. Indo-western is also common.

Should I write "adults only"?

If children aren't invited, say so politely ("we've planned an adults-only evening") so parents can arrange care.

Can I add the cocktail night to my main invite?
