Engagement invitation

The engagement goes by many names — sagai, mangni, roka, ring ceremony, nischayathartham, sakharpuda, ashirwad. Some families keep it small, at home, with the two families and a pandit; others hold a full party with a stage, a DJ and two hundred guests. The invitation should match.

How it works

Ready in about fifteen minutes

  1. 1

    Pick a template

Choose how it opens — a scroll, a diya, an envelope, a chat, stories or a scratch card.

  2. 2

    Make it yours

Add names, every function, muhurat times and venues, in English or any Indian language. Add a photo.

  3. 3

Publish and send one link. It opens full-screen on any phone, no app needed.

  4. 4

    Track RSVPs

On Pro (₹99), guests reply inside the invite and you see who is coming to each function.

A funvite engagement invite is quick to make and easy to share. A scratch card that reveals "we're engaged", an envelope with a ring on the seal, or a chat from the couple — each ends with the date, venue and an RSVP.

What to include

  • The name of the ceremony your family uses — ring ceremony, sagai, roka
  • Both names, and the families hosting
  • Date, time, and whether there is a muhurat for the ring exchange
  • Venue with map
  • Lunch or dinner details
  • Dress code, if any

Engagement, roka and the rest

A roka or chunni ceremony is usually a smaller, family-only affair that formalises the match; an engagement or ring ceremony is often the first big celebration. If you're having both, send the roka invite personally to close family and the engagement invite more widely. If the wedding is soon after, you can combine the engagement and save the date in one invite.

Questions

Frequently asked

How early should engagement invitations be sent?

Two to three weeks before is enough for most engagements; give outstation guests a little more time.

Can I use a scratch-card reveal for the engagement?

Yes — guests scratch to reveal the news or the date. It's a favourite for engagement announcements.

Should the engagement invite mention the wedding date?

If the wedding date is fixed, you can add "wedding on [date] — invitation to follow". Otherwise, leave it out.

Can I collect RSVPs?

Yes, on Pro (₹99 per invite).

Can I make a roka invite on funvite?

Yes. Any template works — change the event name to roka or chunni and keep the guest list small.
